Tiny scientists.
During the first years of childrens
lives they are conducting millions of important
mini science experiments that shape their
health and development. What does this taste
like? What does this feel like? How does
my body move? What scares me? What makes
me feel safe? Who am I connected to? The
experiences kids have during these important
first years form the building blocks for
their success later in life.
The world is their playground.
Its our job to provide kids with the
experiences they need to develop skills
like imagination, curiosity, language, and
focus. Kids cant learn all of these
skills in front of a screen. Thats
why the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends
zero screen time for kids under the age
of two. Are all media bad? Of course not,
but there is just no substitute for real
life experiences for growing kids. Here
are some ideas to get you going. |
