Think
that extra hour of TV watching wont
affect your youngest child? Think
again.
A new study from a Harvard Medical
School group details how each extra
hour of TV viewing by three-yearolds
translates into a diet full of unhealthy
foods, including sugar, transfats,
and fast foods, with less consumption
of healthy fruits, vegetables, calcium,
and dietary fiber. These effects added
up for children who viewed even one
hour more than the average 1.7 hours
of television a day.
The National Institute on Media and
the Family encourages parents and
care givers to limit screen time for
preschoolers to 2 hours a day or less.
Set your child on the road to a healthy
lifestyle with active play. Increased
screen time can lead to increased
health risks.
