It should be obvious:
“Many R rated movies are unsuitable
for young children.”
While this seems like a no-brainer, the movie industry is considering adding this tag line to the R-ratings it assigns movies. Responding to concerns of movie goers who find children in the seats next to them while viewing highly violent or sexual movies, the industry wants to encourage parents to think again before they bring children to R-rated movies.

The National Institute on Media and the Family also urges parents not only to follow ratings, but also to check out content before buying a movie ticket for their child. Research shows that media violence can harm children and increase fearfulness. Be a powerful parent and check out movies before you bring your child.
