Researchers
interested in the effects of television
viewing on young children over time
found that watching TV in early childhood
is associated with attention issues
when those children reach school age.
Childrens brains are in a rapid
state of development during the first
three years of life. Experiences that
children have during this time can
have a profound effect on the wiring
of their brains.
Real world play and interactions with
caring adults set children up for
success later in life. The National
Institute on Media and the Family
recommends that parents exercise caution
in use of television with young children
and limit a young childs exposure
to electronic screens.
